GENETICS
Organisms produce offspring that look similar to them. The parents pass off certain genes which are inherited by their offspring. In example, A catfish offspring a catfish and fruit fly offspring fruit fly. In order for the offspring to look like its parents, some sort of genetic information had to be passed down.
- Organisms have a pair of alleles that constitutes the gene for every feature. Its overall set of paired alleles is its overall genotype.
- Genes are the code for an organisms features. Particular pairs of genes determine what traits an organism has. - The result of the genotypes mixing together, and the genetic outcome of the offspring is its phenotype. |
